So happy to see the groundbreaking panel Sports Comes Out Against Homophobia, that I’m honored to have participated in at the United Nations for Human Rights Day, getting some more coverage.

This article, “Free & Equal Releases Video of Landmark Event Featuring United Nations Leaders, Sports Stars and LGBT and Intersex Activists” covers the event, and includes the following quote:

“It’s very easy to discriminate against intersex women because we’re closeted,” said U.S. intersex activist Hida Viloria. “That’s why even though intesex is 1.7% of the population, as common as having red hair, you don’t all know that you know an intersex person.”

Interesting fact: At approx. 1.7% of the population, Intersex people are as common as red-heads. “Everyone’s met an intersex person, you just may not know you have.”
