I’m deeply grateful to the folks at the UN’s Free & Equal Campaign for continuing to work towards ending discrimination against intersex people–today with the launch of their beautiful Intersex Awareness campaign–and deeply honored to participate as one of the people featured in their Intersex Voices segment.

They wanted short statements geared at educating the public about us, fostering acceptance and ending oppression. Here’s mine:

“I feel blessed that my parents allowed me to be who I am, and I encourage all parents of intersex kids to do the same. Trying to “fix” healthy babies’ bodies to fit social ideals is innately prejudiced, and prejudice is never the solution.”
