I couldn’t be happier to announce the international premiere of the new intersex documentary LET US BE on June 20, 2026. As an executive producer and story writer for the doc, as well as one of the subjects, I have been heavily immersed in this project and am thrilled that it is an official selection for the 34th Raindance Film Festival in London.
Directed buy Viviane D’Avilla and produced by Dona Rosa Flims (Brazil) and Social Construct Films (US), the documentary is groundbreaking in its international focus, following the lives of intersex people in India, Brazil, and the United States. This aspect is what drew me to work on the documentary, as I was very aware that many in the United States still thought that being intersex is a made up, Western, social phenomenon, rather than an innate biological reality that an estimated 2% of the entire human population is born into.
Since beginning the project, the US administration changed, and with it began a campaign to proliferate these harmful misconceptions into law. I am thus thrilled to have participated in a project that debunks these false, harmful theories, and helps share the truth of who we are. I am also grateful to everyone that bravely shared so much of themselves and worked so hard on this documentary to bring it to life, as well as to the selection committee at Raindance for seeing the value in this beautiful film and helping us share it with the world!
